Unnao (UP), Oct 20: Digging continued for the third day on Sunday at Raja Rao Ram Bux Singh temple to find hidden treasure of 1,000 tonnes of gold.

Excavation was resumed today by the Archaeological Survey of India team in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vijay Shankar Dubey and Circle officer Charanjeet Singh.

Archaeologists began digging on Oct 18 for the treasure.

"The team had yesterday dug 70cm. The work has recommenced," official sources said here. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Sonia Singh said that to ensure enhanced security, night vision cameras would be installed at the site.

Archaeologists began digging on October 18 for the treasure which is supposedly buried under the ruins of the 19th century Raja Rao Ram Bux Singh fort on the basis of a seer's dream.

Surrounded by hundreds of onlookers, the excavation was carried out amidst tight security at the fort in Unnao's Daudiakala village by a 12-member ASI team led by its Deputy Director, PK Mishra.

The gold rush was triggered by seer Shoban Sarkar's claim that the said Raja had appeared to him in a dream and told him that 1,000 tonnes of gold lay buried in the ruins of the fort.
