NIA officer murder: 2 detained as cops probe property dispute as motive
Lucknow, Apr 7: Investigators probing the murder of the NIA official at Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh last week are now zeroing in on a property dispute to be the motive.
Officers part of the probe say that they were probing all angles including personal and professional reasons, but at this point the possibility of the latter looks remote. Meanwhile two persons have been detained in connection with the murder.
Tanzeel Ahmed, an officer with the National Investigation Agency was shot dead last Sunday. Two persons on a motor cycle waylaid the vehicle the officer was in and shot him 24 times. His wife was injured in the shoot out, but his children escaped unhurt.
Relative questioned
Meanwhile the UP police have taken into custody one person who is a relative of Ahmed. Sources say that this person could have hired two hitmen to carry out the murder of Ahmed.
Sources also say that they had found that the incident took place due to a dispute over the settlement of a property.
Meanwhile NIA officials say that the possibility of the murder taking place due to professional reasons looks extremely remote. He was part of several terror probes, but had not made any enemies.
He had in fact convinced many youth to shun illegal activities and surrender before the police. He never had an approach that would antagonise anyone on the professional front, the officer also added.
