Narendra Modi to address 3 Uttar Pradesh rallies in October

Lucknow, Sept 20: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and party president Rajnath Singh will address a series of election rallies in Uttar Pradesh next month. The duo will speak in kanpur on October 15, followed by another one in Jhansi on October 25 and in Bahraich on November 8. Party's state spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said this on Friday.

This will be Modi's maiden visit to the state after his appointment as the chairman of the BJP's election campaign committee and also its prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The three venues where Modi will speak are Congress strongholds and also constituencies of two current Union ministers, namely Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal (Kanpur) and Minister of State for Rural Development Pradeep Jain Aditya (Jhansi). Commando Kamal Kishore is the MP from Bahraich constituency.

Uttar Pradesh is an important state for it sends 80 representatives to the Lower House of the Parliament and the BJP leadership is keen to improve his pathetic record here during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections when it finished at the bottom of the table, behind the Samajwadi Party. Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress.

Modi did not campaign in Uttar Pradesh during the last year's assembly elections.
