Mathura (UP), June 3: The violence that broke out in Jawahar Bagh colony here on Thursday evening left the local residents panic-stricken. The families of government staff members who stay in the area either locked themselves inside their homes or left the area. The local people were shell-shocked as soon as the eviction drive started in Jawahar Bagh colony. They said firing started as soon as police and PAC personnel entered the the area. Many fled the area and went to other places. Many houses were seen locked or had only male members as the women and children were shifted to safety.
In fact, some local residents even helped the police personnel in picking up some injured people and sent them to hospital, the report said.
