LS Polls 2014: It's a 'starry affair' for Congress in UP!

Lucknow, Feb 27: The Congress is trying to rekindle its lost charm in the hindi-heartland, Uttar Pradesh by roping in film actors, in the fight to survive the battle of power, in the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2014.

According to news report, yesteryear's Bollywood actress Jaya Prada, popular Bhojpuri actors Ravi Kishan and Nagma are in queue for getting Congress party ticket.

The report said that Nagma is being considered for Phulpur constituency in Allahabad district, Ravi Kishan may get ticket for Jaunpur constituency in eastern UP and Rampur MP Jaya Prada is also likely to join Congress and may contest from Moradabad district of UP.

In January this year, Ravi Kishan had told reporters in Jaunpur, "Congress is like blood in my veins. The party is considering many other names like me. I hope my name will soon be finalised by the party high command also."

"I have completed all the preparations and I am very exited to jump into the political arena on a Congress ticket," the 43-year-old actor had said.

'Rampur ki kali' Jaya Prada from Moradabad

Currently, former cricket captain Mohd Azharuddin is the Moradabad MP, but he will be vacating soon as he has urged the Congress leadership to shift him out of Moradabad to West Bengal.

51-year-old Jaya Prada has twice won from Rampur on Samajwadi Party ticket.

Born in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, Jayaprada entered politics in early 1990s, when she joined Telugu Desam Party.After she had a differences with party chief Chandra Babu Naidu. Then, she left TDP to join Samajwadi Party.

Some reports said that Rajya Sabha MP and Jaya Prada's mentor Amar Singh is also likely to join Congress.

Nagma from Phulpur

Phulpur constituency in Allahabad is a historic seat as it was once represented by the former prime minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru.

Nagma, former Bollywood actress and an AICC member, has been associated with Congress since 2004.
