Bareilly, May 27: In a hit and run case, a female Indian Air Force (IAF) officer mowed down an elderly couple, with her speeding car in Izzat Nagar area of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the family members of the victims have alleged that she flee from the accident spot, leaving her car behind and left the couple to die.
A case of negligent driving has been registered under Section 279, 338 and 304 (A) of IPC against the accused woman officer, whose identity has not yet been revealed.
Police is investigating the matter and an inquiry has been launched into the case. The killer car has been taken into police custody.
TOI report said that 60-year-old Nathu Baksh and his 55-year-old wife Tameezan, both residents of Aslam Mian Colony under Izzat Nagar police station, were out for a morning walk, when the incident happened on Monday, May 25.
The IAF officer, who is said to be a flight lieutenant, was driving in the opposite direction and as she lost the control over the speeding vehicle, it crushed the couple.
The profusely bleeding couple were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they were declared brought dead.
Victims daughter was quoted saying as, "My parents were left to die by the woman officer driving the car and police have failed to take action against her despite ample proof. Is this how officers of the armed forces should conduct themselves? Should they leave to die an old couple who they have just mowed down?"
