Congress members seek Priyanka Gandhi's presence for UP polls
Lucknow, May 12: Poll strategist for Congress, Prashant Kishor has asked senior Congress leaders to rope in Priyanka Gandhi for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
This comes after the clamour to bring in Priyanka grew over the past few weeks. Kishor is likely to campaign in Lucknow for the next few days where he will interact with over 800 block party presidents.
Congress may project Priyanka Gandhi as CM face in UP Assembly polls
Kishore, who was the driving force behind Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha 2014 success and Nitish Kumar's victory in Bihar, wants Priyanka to be the chief ministerial candidate for the party in UP. However, it is still not clear whether Priyanka will accept the role or not.
Priyanka has always campaigned for her mother, Sonia Gandhi and her brother, Rahul in their respective constituencies. During the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Priyanka often visited Rae Bareli and Amethi and met locals there.
However if reports are to be believed, Kishor is keen on having Priyanka campaign for the party across the state. Meanwhile, Congress is looking to bounce back in the UP Assembly elections next year and hopes to regain its lost ground.
Kishor had earlier said that either one of the siblings, Rahul or Priyanka should be made the party's face for the polls in order for the Congress to register a win.
