Won't allow Modi to become PM even if he has majority: Mamata

Kolkata, May 6: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday lashed out at BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a rally in Habra in North 24 Parganas district of the state, saying the latter wouldn't be allowed to become the prime minister even if he had the majority. "Even if you get the majority, we won't allow you to become the PM," Banerjee threatened, adding that the BJP had little chance of getting the numbers.

Banerjee, who has engaged with a fierce war of words with Modi of late, said the BJP's PM candidate should be tied up and sent to jail. She mocked him, saying he is already dreaming of becoming the PM.

Banerjee addressed rallies in Bangaon and Deganga where she said that she would guard if someone tries to divide West Bengal.

Modi's words have brought the TMC, Cong & Left on the same page, a rarity in WB

Modi's words that Bangladeshi infiltrators will be thrown out have stirred a massive controversy in West Bengal with parties like the Trinamool Congress, Congress and Left attacking Modi in equal terms. They said that Modi was trying to create division in Bengal.

State BJP president Rahul Sinha said if Modi needed to go to jail for raking up the Bangladeshi infiltrator issue, Mamata Banerjee should be first person to go to jail for she had thrown a bunch of papers on the table of former deputy Lok Sabha speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal citing a list of Bangladeshi nationals who were included in the voters' list by the previous Left government in Bengal.
