Kolkata, Jan 27: The BJP leadership in West Bengal organised a unique way of campaigning in favour of the party's prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, on Monday, a report in Bengali news channel ABP Ananda said. The party decided to sell essential food items and vegetable at the cost that prevailed during the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the past. The campaign was backed by the traders' wing of the BJP.

"We are doing this to expose the skyrocketing prices of essential goods in the time of the United Progressive Alliance at the Centre. The people will be able to buy essential goods at such low prices again if Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister," state BJP chief Rahul Sinha said.

Prices will be reduced if Modi becomes the PM, said WB Bengal chief Rahul Sinha

The BJP carried out a campaign in the state capital and three adjoining districts in a decorated launch, said the report. Local leaders spoke to the common people during the campaign. They also plan to undertake a similar campaign ahead of Modi's rally in West Bengal.

Narendra Modi to address rally in Kolkata on February 5

The West Bengal BJP started online registration process earlier this month for booking seats at the rally of Modi in Kolkata on February 5. The party was, however, demanding no money for attending the rally and kept the donation an optional matter for the audience.
