Kolkata, Dec 12: Deputy Speaker of West Bengal assembly and leader of the ruling Trinmaool Congress (TMC) Sonali Guha was caught ton camera hreatening and manhandling a doctor in an apartment in Howrah following a dispute between two families over the functioning of the lift.
Guha was seen terming herself the "chief minister's man" and "I am the government" while threatening Dr Nagendra Rai of throwing him out from his flat and also lock it down. She was heard saying that nobody would be able to open the lock, footage being aired on local television channels showed.
Guha was seen reaching the apartment in Golabari area of Howrah in her red-beacon car to settle the dispute involving a family which has a pregnant woman and wanted to use the lift to take her to a hospital. But the problem started since the lift doesn't operate after 11 pm. The family, which is known to be close to Guha, accused the doctor of intentionally stopping the elevator to harass them.
The deputy speaker later said that she didn't threaten the doctor first but lost her cool when the latter allegedly talked about calling BJP supporters to intervene. "This is Mamata's Bengal, not Modi's", a report quoted Guha as saying.
A few days ago, former West Bengal Minority Development and Finance Corporation chairman Abu Ayesh Mondal landed in trouble for allegedly assaulting a toll plaza employee at Dankuni in Hooghly district. Mondal later quit the post.
