Trinamool workers assault EC officials in West Bengal yet again
The attack reportedly occurred when the officials tried to stop a two-wheeler rally of the ruling party as the poll panel has banned such rallies. The officials were also trying to take pictures of the rally. The candidate from this seat Dr Moazzem Hossain was conducting his election campaign with around 200-250 two-wheelers when this hhapned.
While speaking to the news channel, Sabitri Mitra, a state minister from this part, blamed the EC officials for the ruckus.
This is the third instance of the EC facing ire of the ruling party in WB
This is the third instance of attack on EC officials in the state by the supporters of the ruling party. The previous two instances occurred in Habra in the North 24 Parganas and Howrah. No arrests have been made till the latest reports came in.
Party supremo and state Chief Minister Trinamool Congress has been at the loggerheads with the poll panel over transferring of officials in the state. Though Banerjee relented before the commission, but she continued with her angry posture, saying the commission would be responsible if any untoward incident happened.
