Saradha scam: Kunal Ghosh names TMC minister

Kunal names TMC minister
Kolkata, Oct 30: It looks like Saradha 'storm' is set to rock Trinamool Congress again. Party's suspended MP Kunal Ghosh on Tuesday named a state cabinet minister and a retired IPS officer, whose names do not figure in Saradha CEO Sudipta Sen's letter to CBI on April 6. Saradha group scam was unearthed six months ago.

"If you ask about Sudipta Sen's rise from Bishnupur, ask Madan Mitra," Kunal said after his first interrogation at the Enforcement Directorate office in Salt Lake, indicating Mitra's close connections with Sen. Thereby Kunal made it clear that he is not the only one to have known Sen.

Kunal also named a retired IPS officer during his submission to ED officials, saying: "If you ask about the Las Vegas trip, ask former IPS Rajat Majumdar." He also named the owner of a media house, who has earlier figured in the allegations.

Kunal was questioned nine times by police, twice by SFIO and then by ED. He is likely to be questioned by ED again.

Mitra told Times of India that allegations by an accused don't matter much. "People living in glass houses shouldn't throw stones at others," he said.

TOI report also says that Bishnupur is where the Saradha Gardens housing complex is located. Bishnupur also happens to be the cradle of Mitra's career in parliamentary politics. Mitra first contested from Bishnupur in 2006 and lost but won the bypoll three years later. He also headed the Saradha Group Employees Union-and on at least one occasion was videotaped urging people to invest in Saradha. Mitra had been keeping a low profile on anything relating to Saradha.
