Narendra Modi in Kolkata today, will he woo Mamata?

Kolkata, Feb 5: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is set to address a mega rally called Jana Chetana Sabha at the Brigade Ground here on Wednesday. The rally is scheduled to begin at 1 pm. Security has been beefed up at the venue. Local BJP leaders expected a turnout of 2 lakh people at the rally venue.

The rally holds importance for all eyes will be set on Modi's take on local political forces like the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Left. The BJP leader has been heard praising West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in the recent past for her strong anti-Congress stand. The latter, however, announced at a rally held at the same ground last month that her party would maintain an equal distance with both the Congress and BJP and gave a call for a strong federal front.

Banerjee's arch-rivals, the CPI(M) has already forged an alliance with the AIADMK for the big polls. What will be Banerjee's counter-move? The question has kept political observers interested.
