Accusing the TMC as a party of cheats, Sinha said his brother had joined Mamata Banerjee's party long ago. "So what was the point behind showing him as joining the same party now?," asked the state BJP president, adding it was nothing but a ploy to show that cracks were developing in the BJP which is not the case. He said his brother may have a different political stand but the way the TMC is playing that up to tackle the BJP in the state, it shows the politics it played.
The TMC held a counter-rally on Monday led by Abhishek Banerjee, the MP nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, a day after BJP's all-India president Amit Shah addressed a big rally at the heart of Kolkata on Sunday. Shah launched a scathing attack on the TMC supremo at the rally and targetted her government over issues like Saradha and terror link with Bangladesh.
Abhishek Banerjee later said the chief minister cancelled her appearance in the rally for she felt she was too big for the BJP chief.
Earlier this year, Barry O'Brien, brother of TMC's Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien, joined the BJP.
