Kolkata, April 28: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dedicated the victory of her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), in the civic elections in Kolkata and the state to the people of Bengal and also Rabindranath Tagore. [Trinamool leads in Kolkata, other civic polls]
We will dedicate our victory to Rabindranath Tagore on 9 May through Rabi Pronaam across Bengal— Mamata Banerjee (@MamataOfficial) April 28, 2015
Tagore's 155th birth anniversary is on May 9.
We dedicate our victory to people of Bengal. I request party workers to stay away from victory rallies today in light of #earthquake tragedy— Mamata Banerjee (@MamataOfficial) April 28, 2015
In a couple of tweets, Banerjee expressed her thoughts over the TMC's dominance in the civic polls. The party won and led in 13 seats in the 144-seat strong Kolkata Municipal Corporation and in 70 out of 92 civic bodies across West Bengal. The ruling party swept the southern parts while the Left and Congress were putting up some fight in the northern parts of the state.
