Hapless Maggi finds a friend in Mamata as Bengal CM decides not to ban it
Kolkata, June 5: While the entire country is deciding against consuming Maggi noodles with one state after another banning them, West Bengal has taken the reverse route.
On Friday, the state's chief minister Mamata Banerjee declared in the assembly that the food product will not be banned in Bengal as of now for nothing harmful has been found in the tests.
Banerjee said the tests will continue and the government may take measures in future if something harmful is found in Maggi.
Bihar bans Maggi for a month
Neighbouring Bihar also decided to ban Maggi for a month on Friday. The state's food safety wing sent 27 samples of the fast food product to a lab in Kolkata but the reports are still to reach the administration.
Bihar authorities said the samples in other states have shown that Maggi has high content of lead and monosodium glutamate and hence they decided to ban sale, distribution and even display of Maggi so that public health is not put in jeopardy.
