Kolkata, May 12: A blast on the Sealdah-Krishnanagar local train in Kolkata has injured 17 persons. The blast occurred on the local train at around 3.50 am.
Police officials investigating the incident say that it was a low-intensity bomb. The blast was a result of passengers hurling bombs at each other due to a scuffle.
Scuffle between groups:
The blast was a result of a scuffle between two groups, the police have said. According to passengers two groups got into a scuffle and began hurling bombs at each other.
The CID’s bomb squad division and the Railway Police force have been pressed into action and are investigating the matter further.
According to the police some of these persons were carrying explosives with them. However, during the course of the journey some miscreants entered into an altercation which prompted the other group to retaliate by hurling crude bombs.
Eye witness accounts also suggested that some of these men were carrying weapons with them. Investigations are on.
