Bengal horror: Woman jumps from second floor to escape friends' rape attempt
Howrah, March 7: A 20-year-old woman jumped from the second floor of a building to escape an alleged rape attempt. The incident happened in Howrah.
She
sustained
injuries
on
her
head
and
face
and
was
admitted
to
the
Howrah
General
Hospital.
A
resident
of
Liluah
in
Howrah
district,
the
woman
later
said
that
she
was
given
a
drink
laced
with
intoxicants
while
she
was
chatting
with
a
few
male
friends
on
Sunday
evening
after
she
went
to
meet
her
boyfriend.
She
was
then
allegedly
attacked
by
her
male
friends
who
were
accused
of
trying
to
gangrape
her.
The woman said although she was feeling drowsy, yet she was in her senses and made a desperate attempt to escape by running to the second floor roof and jumping from there.
She landed on a mound of sand, which helped her avoid a major injury.
Three men were arrested. A case of sexual harassment was filed against them and they will be produced in Howrah court on Monday. The doctors said the woman did escape a rape attempt.
