Kerala: Jilted lover runs over 22-year-old woman for ignoring his advances

Thrissur, April 15: A 22-year-old woman was mowed down by a car, driven by a jilted lover for refusing his advances.

The shocking incident took place on Tuesday, April 14 at Arimbur of Thrissur district in Kerala.


According to reports, the ruthless crime happened at around 10 am, when the girl, a B.Com student, was on her way back to her home after visiting the temple.

However, the police is yet to arrest the culprit, identified as Shebin from Karalam.

The furious youth also knocked a group of women who were trying help the girl after she had been injured.

Meanwhile, Thrissur city police commissioner R Nishanthini informed that the police had traced the Swift car, which was used by the youngster for the attack.

The student who suffered multiple injuries, including hip and leg fractures was admitted to a private hospital in Thrissur.

The natives who rushed at the spot for helping the victim, were also injured.

Those injured including Shyamala (55), her daughter Amritha (20), Padmini (60), Ramya (28) and Rahul were also admitted to hospital. According to hospital sources, some of them have sustained head injuries.

While one of the injured is on ventilator support, another is in ICU.

Shebin, against whom police has registered a case of murder, abandoned his car and is absconding along with his parents, police said.

The incident has sent shock waves as it comes close on the heels of the ramming of a luxury car by a business tycoon on a security guard of a luxury apartment here causing the death of the guard.
