Kochi, Sept 11: Kochi pazhaya Kochiyalla, group on popular social site Facebook, on Wednesday posted a picture of a woman called Merin Joseph with a caption 'New ACP of KOCHI'. It also asked the followers: 'How many likes for our new ACP of Kochi?'

The woman's picture soon became a major point of attraction and over 2,300 people liked it at the time of writing this report. It was also shared almost 90 times and also went viral on WatsApp. There was a flood of comments below the picture. While one man said he wanted to start robbing after seeing the policewoman, another commented "Makes men criminal minded". Some even expressed the desire of getting arrested by her because of her good looks. Many wished her for her achievements and complimented her.

Merin Joseph, an IPS trainee, underwent training in Kochi for two weeks, said a Deccan Chronicle report. She also led an Indian delegation to the Y20 Australian summit, it said. Merin cleared the civil services examination in her first attempt in 2012 after completing her graduation from St Stephen's College in New Delhi. She will be the third Malayali IPS offer to join the Kerala cadre after R Sreelekha and B Sandhya.

However, other sources said the post did not convey the facts as Joseph is not the ACP of Kochi and is an IPS officer currently training in Hyderabad. The woman herself clarified this in her personal Facebook wall where she wrote on Wednesday night: "An urgent clarification- i am NOT the new ACP of Kochi. Still under training in NPA Hyderabad. Will update when I get my first charge in January next year. Kindly refrain from believing baseless rumours floating in social media. Thanks."

Jospeh's post was liked by over 5,500 people and was shared over 330 times.
