Supreme Court grants conditional bail to Sahara chief Subrata Roy
Thiruvananthapuram, March 26: The high drama over the nomination papers of United democratic Front (UDF) leader and sitting MP from Kottayam in Kerala, Jose K Mani, ended on Tuesday as the nomination papers were accepted by the district returning officer and district collector Ajit Kumar.

The papers were accepted after getting the relevant documents from central election commission and seeking the opinion of legal experts.

On Monday, the district returning officer had put the reception of the nomination paper filed by the Kerala Congress (M)on hold as the opponents, Left Democratic Front leaders raised objections regarding the misrepresentation of facts in the paper.

However, the LDF said that they will approach the court against Mani's nomination.

Kottayam collector and returning officer of the district Ajit Kumar said that he had taken the decision based on a fax message he received from the election Commission of India acknowledging the recognition of Kerala Congress (M) as a party and Mani as its chairman.

Earlier, LDF candidate Mathew T Thomas and NDA candidate Noble Mathew raised objections regarding Form A, submitted by Mani along with his nominationwhich said that he was the chairman of KC(M) is not legally valid.

According to the opponents, it is CF Thomas, not Jose K Mani, who is the chairman of the party.

The returning officers on Monday accepted the nomination papers of Shashi Tharoor and Bennet P Abraham, the candidates of Congress and LDF in Thiruvanthapuram constituency even though opponents have raised doubts regarding the facts in their nomination papers.
