In a shocking turn of twist, the Kanpur police detained Piyush Syam Dashani, the husband of Jyoti Dashani on Tuesday.
During the interrogation, police found that there were inconsistencies in the statement recorded by Piyush. Then, police developed suspicion on him.
The crucial evidence that led police to crack the murder case was the CCTV footage of the restaurant where Piyush had gone for dinner with Jyoti at Carnival restaurant on Sunday.
The police noted that the t-shirt that Piyush was wearing at the time of dining was different when he reached police station to lodge the complaint.
Also, he informed police after one hour of the incident, that made him a prime suspect.
In the CCTV footage, it was found that Piyush was constantly messaging someone from his mobile and was not talking much to Jyoti.
On Wednesday, Piyush broke down and confessed to have hatched a conspiracy to get her wife eliminated so that he can get married to another woman, with whom he is having an extra-marital affair.
Jyoti's dead body was found with multiple stabs in a car in Panki area on Sunday night.
Earlier, Piyush had alleged that two-bike borne people had kidnapped Jyoti when they were returning from the restaurant.
But, after the investigation, it emerged that Piyush had got his girlfriend's driver Avdhesh and his girlfriend to be his partner in crime and got her murdered.
The driver, who reportedly stabbed Jyoti to death has also been arrested.
The senior police officer said that Piyush's girlfriend was also involved in the crime as she had destroyed the SIM card on which they both were talking on phone on the day of crime.
Piyush, the biscuit making company businessman, himself accepted in front of the media that his neighbour's driver Avdhesh killed Jyoti along with his three- four mates.
27-year-old Jyoti who jailed from Jabalpur, tied knot with Piyush in 2012.
