State pays homeage to martyrs of the Samba sector attacks

Jammu: Martyrs to be laid to rest
Jammu, Sept 27: Army personnel, who were killed in the twin attacks in Jammu on Thursday, were honoured at the command headquarters in a wreath laying ceremony on Friday. Six army personnel were reportedly killed inside the army cantonment mess adjacent to the Samba sector that took place on Thursday.

Among the dead Lt Col Bikramjeet Singh, also lost his life to the day-long gunfire between the terrorists and the army. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. His body will be handed over to his family, later during the day.

The Army personnel will be laid to rest on Friday. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdulla and other leaders of the National Congress was present to pay their last tributes to them.

The twin attack came just hours ahaead of the Manmohan Singh- Nawaz Sharif meeting that is supposed to take place in the United States on Friday. Post the attack, there was a strong opposition to the meeting and political leaders urged Singh to call off the talks.

However, Singh didn't change his decision and said that the talk will go on as per schedule.
