A video of the event has been shared by White House on its Facebook page on Monday.
According to reports, the Virginia McLaurin was invited to meet the president as part of Black History Month celebrations.
Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in US history.
"I am so happy to have a black president and a black wife... And I'm here to celebrate black history," the woman was reportedly quoted as saying.
