Video: How 'Superhero' Indian grandpa put his own life at risk to save granddaughter
Sydney, July 8: A Sikh family in Australia has witnessed a nightmare when their 2-year-old kid's pram rolled onto railway track. But the kid was lucky to have a superhero, her grandfather.
The 62-year-old Indian man did not hesitate for a second before jumping onto the railway track to save his 18-month-old granddaughter.
CCTV footage from the railway station in Australia captured the incident. The 62-year-old Sikh man launched himself into the path of the train at Sydney's Wentworthville station.
He picked up the child and handed her back to his daughter-in-law who stood on the platform. Suddenly, he realised that one train was approaching fast towards him.
He was forced to run for his life along the tracks until he could throw himself off to the side. He somehow saved himself.
The uncle of the child later was quoted as saying, "He's done a really great job and he didn't really think for a second about his own life at all, he just jumped out to save her."
The child and the grandfather suffered minor injuries and were rushed to nearby hospital. They were released from hospital hours later.
