According to a CNN report, Rubio, who has been attacking front-runner in the Republican race Donald Trump throughout the season, regreted saying he has learnt to behave responsibly in front of cameras.
The 44-year-old senator said more than a victory or loss, there are people who see him as a role model and his ugly spat with Trump embarassed many of his supporters, including his own family members.
Rubio is undoubtedly under a lot of pressure to stop Trump's march and is he fails to win his own state, then the real-estate tycoon's way towards the Republican nomination will look smoother, much to the dismay of several Republicans.
Rubio also rued Trump's style of politics and said leadership is not about fuelling people's anger and frustration. He called it demagoguery and termed it "dangerous".
The crowd cheered Rubio's words at the rally at Palm Beach Atlantic University in South Florida.
