MAOB: US drops biggest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan against IS
The weapon is known in the US Air Force by its nickname MOAB or mother of all bombs.
The United States dropped a massive non-nuclear bomb also known as the 'Mother of all Bombs' in Afghanistan in a bid to target a series of caves used by the Islamic State in Nagarhar province on Thursday.

According to American media, the bomb that weighed 21,000 pounds was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft operated by the US air force. Its targets were the caves used by Islamicc State operatives in the Achin district of the Nangarhar province.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer while addressing a press conference said,''We targeted system of tunnels & caves that IS fighters used to move around.''
He added,''The US takes fight against IS very seriously & in order to defeat the group, we must deny them operational space -- which we did.''
This is the first time a MOAB or mother of all bombs has been used in the battlefield against the IS.
