The minibus, which was carrying kindergarten children, hit Ms Stone and Figo. The driver of the bus, however, claimed that he did not notice the pair crossing the road.

While, Ms Stone suffered three broken ribs, a fractured right elbow, a cut to her head and a fractured ankle; Figo, luckily, escaped with only a broken front leg which is now in a splint.

An eyewitness of the incident was quoted as saying, "I don't know if (the driver) thought (Stone) was going to move faster, but it looks like the dog tried to take most of the hit for her."
