UK: MPs to get lesson on Jammu & Kashmir
London, Oct 26: A seminar is expected to be held in UK to educate lawmakers about ongoing situation in Jammu & Kashmir.
Kashmiri pandits, in association with the All Party Parliamentary Group for British Hindus, led by its chair MP Bob Blackman will hold a seminar on October 26, reported the Times of India.
MPs will be taught about historical validity of the accession in the backdrop of militancy and insurgency which erupted in 1990, displacing lakhs of Hindus from the Valley and several massacres in the Jammu region, carried out by militant groups
According to reports, Activists in the UK are planning to hold a seminar in the House of Commons, the lower house of British Parliament, on the occasion of 68th anniversary of the signing of the instrument of accession of J&K to India by Maharaja Hari Singh.
SC suspends beef ban in Jammu and Kashmir for two months
Maharaja Hari Singh agreed that the Jammu and Kashmir would become a part of India and signed the legal document, known as the Instrument of Accession, on October 26, 1947.
The signing of the deal paved the way for the arrival of the Indian Army which saved Srinagar from tribal hordes led by the Pakistan army.
