UK election: Labour leader Ed Miliband apologises to losing MPs

London, May 8: Labour leader Ed Miliband on Friday morning admitted a "very disappointing and difficult night" and apologised to his party MPs who lost their seats.

The Labour Party was obliterated by the Scottish National Party and was even struggling in various parts of England and Wales. [Britain gets youngest MP since 1667]

Labour election campaign chief Douglas Alexander and its leader in Scotland Jim Murphy lost in the poll and the party failed to win a number of seats it had targetted. [David Cameron inches towards close majority]

The Labour Party, which had won 258 seats in 2010, is predicted to win just 239 seats this time. The Conservative, who was leading the Labour by a considerable distance, is expected to get 316 MPs.
