Two arrested for duping France-based couple in land deal

Muzaffarnagar, Aug 10: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly duping a France-based Indian couple in a fake land deal worth Rs 4 lakh at Shukertal village here, police said today.

The accused identified as Sadhu Swami Ram Giri and Kesho Ram were arrested yesterday for preparing fake transfer deed of a land and receiving Rs 4 lakh for the property deal, Circle Officer Sukcham Prakash said.

France-based Sadhvi Kolet Rame and her husband Swami Brijraj Giri had purchased the land for a Gaushala (cowshed) in Shukertal village few months ago from the duo and their two other accomplices, he said. Brijraj Giri had lodged a complaint against the four, stating that the accused cheated the couple with fake property deal wherein the land belonged to someone else, police said.

A case was registered against the four for cheating, Prakash said. The other two accused -former Revenue clerk Mukesh and lawyer Rahul Goel - are already lodged in jail in connection with a separate land grabbing case, he added.
