According to a report published in Bengali daily Anandabazaar Patrika on Monday, Shahriar Alam, the minister of state of Bangladesh's foreign ministry.
The matter came up for discussion in Jatiyo Sangsad, the Bangladeshi parliament, on Sunday but Speaker Shirin Sarmin Chaudhury said it is a sensitive issue and decided that the parliament would take it up for more deliberation on Tuesday. The ruling Awami League said India should also probe the allegations and reveal the truth, said the ABP report.
Alam said the reports about the Indian MP's alleged links with Jamaat came to their notice and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered a detailed probe into it. The Bangladeshi government is trying to find out the avenues through which the money reached the Jamaat in Bangladesh and how it has been spent, the report added.
Bangladesh has witnessed serious riots in the past two years.
