Rigged elections in PoK: Massive protests break out

Muzzafarabad, July 27: Questioning the authenticity of the elections held in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on July 21, protests have erupted across the region. The elections that were held saw the Pakistan Muslim League, Nawaz bag 32 out of the 42 seats.

The protests spread across the region and towns such as Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Chinari and Mirpur were the worst hit. There were allegations that a PML(N) member had killed a supporter of the Muslim Conference in Muzzafarabad.

Protests erupt over rigged polls in PoK

As the protests erupted, the administration in Pakistan issued a strict warning to clamp down on reporting by the media.

Protestors have alleged that genuine voters were not allowed to cast their vote. Allegations of the ISI aiding the PML(N) in rigging the elections were also made. Despite complaining none heard them out, the protestors have further alleged.

The protestors say that this is not the first time that such a thing had happened. Every election is rigged and the first thing that is done when protests erupt is a gag order is issued on the media.

Further there is also a ban on foreign observers during the elections. The locals have been demanding that a neutral face is posted in the region to oversee the election process, but it has always been denied.
