Pak-China think tank 'RANDI', becomes butt of jokes on Twitter
New Delhi, April 21: Pakistan and China's decision to launch a joint think tank has become the butt of jokes for twitterati on Monday.
The think tank 'Research and Development International' will focus on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor research and development but that's not an issue, it is the acronymy that takes the cake. Actually, the short form of the think tank is 'RANDI' which, in Hindi, means prostitute.
Though nobody from Pakistan raised any objections to the short form but #Randi surely caught up the attention of the Twitteratis. From Randi mat Kaho (Don't call me prostitute) jokes to 'La Whore' are trending on the social networking site.
"Well, that's an unfortunate name for a think tank...," Fatima Bhutto, a well known Pakistani poet and writer, tweeted.
Senior journalist Shekhar Gupta tweeted,"It took joint Pak-Chinese imagination to produce this marvellous 5-letter disaster of ACRONYMOLOGICAL proportions."
