Polls in eastern Ukraine run counter to Minsk deal: NATO

Brussels, Nov 5: NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday said the elections in the east of Ukraine ran directly counter to the Minsk agreements and the NATO allies would not recognise them.

The NATO chief made the remarks at a joint press briefing with EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini, Xinhua reported.

Donetsk and Luhansk, two independence-seeking regions in eastern Ukraine, held "presidential and parliamentary elections" on Sunday amid criticism from Kiev and the West.
