Pakistans army chief-designate Lt. Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa has "zero presence" on social media and any accounts under his name are fake, the army's media wing has clarified on Monday.

Islamabad, Nov 28: Pakistans army chief-designate Lt. Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa has "zero presence" on social media and any accounts under his name are fake, the army's media wing has clarified on Monday.

"#COAS designate Gen Qamar Bajwa has zero presence on social media. All Facebook / Twitter & other social media platforms IDs & accounts on his name are fake," Lt-Gen Asim Bajwa, head of the military's media wing, the Inter-Services Press Relations, said.

The announcement came just a day after Lt. Gen. Bajwa was appointed as the country's new chief of army staff, succeeding General Raheel Sharif, who retires on November 29.

The army's spokesperson announced that a formal change of command ceremony will be held on Tuesday at the army's general headquarters in Rawalpindi to welcome the incoming chief.
