Pakistan school attack: Why the Taliban targeted school kids
Islamabad, Dec 16: It was a day of horror and sadness, fear and grief for the people of Pakistan. With over 130 lives lost, we wonder why target innocent children?
When Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the terror attack on students at the Army Public school in Peshawar, they motive was unknown with reports suggesting that they were carrying out the attack as an act of revenge.
However, according to a report in the Daily Beast, the attack was carried out on the private school, where children of many soldiers go. According to the report, ‘the school was targeted because militants said that 'the parents of the children helped the US.'
TTP militants say that the parents of these children are in the army. "They are behind the indiscriminate bombing in North and South Waziristan , in which many of our kids have died," a TTP spokesperson was quoted.
He added: "A new series of attacks will be started all over Pakistan if the Pakistani army continues its military movements in the tribal areas."
What is shocking is that the militants have vowed to carry out attacks across the country, as an act of revenge.
