Ottawa: Brain dead pregnant woman kept alive for baby
In a heart-warming story of a couple, the wife has been kept on life support after she suffered a brain hemorrhage at the end of December last year when she was 22-weeks pregnant.
Doctors believe she can be kept alive until she reaches the 34th week of her pregnancy when they will perform a Cesarean section on her.
Robyn, wife of Dylan Benson, will then be relieved of the life support. A thrilled Dylan is sorrowful too.
"On one hand, I can't wait to meet my son and try to give him the best life possible and try my hardest to be a great dad for him. But on the other hand I know that the day or the day after he is born will be the day that I have to say goodbye to Robyn. I miss her so much," he wrote on a private blog misterbenson.com.
Benson also describes how he visited her everyday in the neonatal intensive care unit and how the starngers related to his tragedy, dropping him condolences every now and then.
"Having a soon-to-be-mother on life support and brain dead is a rare tragedy,"said one of the staff members in Victoria General Hospital in westernmost Canada.
