Nobel peace prize to Obama was mistake, says ex-secretary
London, Sept 18: The unanimous decision to award the Nobel peace prize to US President Barack Obama was a mistake, said Geil Lundestad, ex-secretary Norwegian Nobel Institute.
Awarding the Nobel peace prize to him failed to fulfill the committee's expectations, reported BBC on Thursday.
"The committee hoped the award would strengthen Mr Obama," said Geir Lundestad in an interview.
"Even many of Obama's supporters believed that the prize was a mistake," said Lundestad. Even President Obama himself had been surprised on committee's decision.
