While one officer was shot in the back, another was shot in the arm. The police launched a massive manhunt to find at least two assailants. Sources in the police said a gun was found at the site but could not confirm whether it belonged to the assailants.
The two officers were working as part of an anti-crime operation in the 46th Precinct, said the police. They were reportedly trying to stop a car before the shootings started. The shootings took place around 10.30 pm.
On December 20 last year, a 28-year-old man named Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley shot two on-duty NYPD officers in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighbourhood of Brooklyn borough of New York City. It was believed that he shot the two officers to avenge the death of Eric Garner and the shooting of Michael Brown. Brinsley then committed suicide in the city subway.['People clapped to see the New York cops getting killed']
