Nepal landslide: Death toll mounts to 55
Kathmandu, June 13: The death toll from massive landslide occurred in Taplejung district of Nepal on Wednesday and Thursday has reached 55, media reported.
A number of settlements in Thinglabu, Liwang, Lingtep, Khokling and Santhakra VDCs were swept by the Multiple landslips triggered by incessant rainfall.
This disaster has hit the Himalayan nation weeks after it was devastated by two earthquakes that left more than 8,000 people dead.
At least 13 people, trapped in landslides, were rescued by officials deployed in the area, media reported.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shantiraj Koirala, 27 bodies were handed over to the families.
Torrential rain in the Taplejung region caused the Mewa and Tamor rivers to burst their banks, triggering the landslides.
