Narendra Modi invites Canadian PM Justin Trudeau to visit India

Washington, Apr 2: Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau was invited to visit India by his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Friday.

Both the leaders met on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit. This was their first meeting after Trudeau came to power last year.

Modi invites Trudeau to visit India

Modi is said to have invited Trudeau during their meeting and Trudeau graciously accepted the offer. According to reports, Trudeau said that he would bring his family as well.

However no confirmation has been given on the date of Trudeau's visit to India.

Meanwhile, during their meeting Modi told Trudeau that 'India and Canada were made for each other' and the two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation including progress in the nuclear energy sector.

Trudeau and Modi are known to share a warm friendly relationship with each other. The Canadian PM had recently joked about joked about Modi's Cabinet and said: "I have more Sikhs in my Cabinet than Modi does."

When Trudeau was sworn-in as the Canadian PM, Modi had congratulated him and said: "We share a strong bond of democracy and inclusiveness enriched by a vibrant Indian diaspora."
