True Champion Defeats Death: F1 driver Michael Schumacher out of Coma, leaves hospital
Schumacher, a Formula 1 legend, left the Grenoble University Hospital in Grenoble, France, media report informed on Monday, June 16. According to BBC, the 45-year-old German will, however, continue his rehabilitation at an undisclosed location.
The seven-time F1 champion was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps Dec 29, 2013. His family and manager thanked people who had sent messages of support.
Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's manager, was quoted as saying, "Michael has left the CHU Grenoble (hospital) to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore."
Earlier Oneindia reported that there were short moments of consciousness and that he was showing small sings of progress. "There are moments when he is awake and moments when he is conscious," his manager added.
