London, June 23: First time in last 63 years, Queen Elizabeth II may have been asked to leave the Buckingham Palace.
Don't be shocked. The queen may have to move out of the palace as it needs renovation. According to royal officials, Buckingham Palace has not been redecorated since 1952, when the queen took the throne.
According to sources, the palace needs an estimated 150 million pounds ($237 million) of upgrades. This cost includes replacing old plumbing and wiring and removing asbestos.
The Buckingham Palace was first used by Queen Victoria and then Queen Elizabeth II moved into the palace in 1952. She spends about a third of her time in the London palace.
Officials also informed that maintenance of old building and especially the Buckingham Palace will create significant financial challenge in upcoming years.
