Top ISIS commander likely killed in air strike, claims US
Washington, Mar 9: An Islamic State (ISIS) commander is believed dead after being hit by US air strike in Syria.
Abu Omar al-Shishani, also known as Omar the Chechen, was likely killed in the air strike, said US officials. If true this would be a major victory in the US efforts to destroy the terror group leadership.
Chechen was considered as a military adviser to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, reported CNN.
"US military is still assessing the results of the strike, but acknowledged its potential significance," said Pentagon spokesma Peter Cook.

US announced $US5 million bounty on Al-Shishani's head. Chechen was reported dead some five times since the skirmishes in Syria and Iraq in 2014.
