Indian embassy in Turkey asks Indians to remain indoors
Ankara/New Delhi, July 16:The Indian embassy in Turkey has advised all Indians in Turkey to avoid public places and remain indoors until the situation there becomes clearer in view of a military coup. It has also provided emergency help contact numbers.
"Our Embassy in Ankara advises Indian nationals in Turkey to avoid public places and remain indoors until the situation there becomes clearer," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

The MEA is in touch with authorities with Turkey and say that as of now nothing much can be said about the situation there.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj too tweeted and urged that Indian nationals must avoid travel to Turkey until the situation is normal.
The Turkish military late on Friday night released a statement claiming to have taken over and martial law has been imposed. However, Turkish officials said that all attempts of coup by the military have failed.
