France shocker! Mother who killed her eight newborns sentenced to 9 years in prison

Paris, July 3: In a rare incident of infanticide, a mother in France was sentenced to nine years in prison for killing her new born kids eight between 1989 and 2000, media reported.

The mother identified as 51-year-old Dominique Cottrez confessed to killing her eight children after secretly giving birth near Lille in north of France, The Independent reported.

She subsequently buried the bodies in the garden of her parents' home and her own home nearby in Villers-au-tertre.

The defence had argued for her acquittal due to her disturbed mental condition.

The former nursing assistant Cottrez said she had been raped by her father as a child and had an incestuous relationship with him. She killed her babies fearing that they were fathered by her father,She later admitted to making up the alleged relationship when tests showed the babies had been fathered by her husband.

Cottrez' managed to hide her pregnancy from her husband, neighbors and even doctors at a nearby hospital due to obesity.
