Former President APJ Abdul Kalam, 83, also known as India's 'missile man', collapsed during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong on Monday and later died in a hospital. Kalam served as the President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Government has announced a seven-day state mourning in honour of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, however there will be no holiday.
He was credited with helping develop his country's first space satellites. In the 1980s, he was helped design the nuclear-capable Prithvi and Agni ballistic missiles.
