Florida shooting: 3 young men taken into custody; not terror, say cops
Fort Myers (US), July 26: The Florida Police on Monday (July 25) said it had taken three persons into custody while the search was on for more suspects in connection with a shooting outside a nightclub just after midnight on Sunday (July 24) in which two teenagers were killed. The police, however, said the shooting incident was not an act of terror but did not give any details about the motive behind the killings. The dead included an 18-year-old high-school basketball star. [Read more on Orlando gay nightclub massacre]
The three persons who were arrested are all young and they were held after fleeing the crime scene in two vehicles, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook statement, Reuters reported.
The trio was charged in connection to the chase. While one of them, 19-year-old Derrick Church, was arrested on charges of assaulting a police officer, Demetrius O'Neal, also 19, was taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest as was Tajze Battle, 22, the report said.
