Facebookers spring surprise on 6-year-old autistic boy's birthday

Florida, Feb 23: When all the classmates of an autistic boy kept aloof from his sixth birthday party, his community and local sheriff's office united to make it the most memorable day in his life.

Glenn Buratti, a six-year-old boy from St Cloud, Florida invited his school friends to join his birthday party on Sunday, Feb 8, but the call was rejected by all, not a single kid turned up.

Ashley Buratti, Glenn's mother, who was totally devastated after looking at her son, emotionally, turned to the social networking website Facebook and shared her frustration in a post to a closed community group.

The end result of the post was inspiring. After reading the post, a number of people who were touched by the situation thronged towards Glenn's residence with gifts.

The post also received the attention of local sheriff's office and deputies. Both of them collected money to buy wonderful gifts for Glenn.

"The boy was fully stunned with the gifts and hasn't stopped smiling", a happy Buratti said.

"Eventhough strangers, many of them have come to my home to make my child happy," she said. The mother's heart was warmed with pleasure.

Around 15 kids and 25 adults reached to celebrate and eat cake, and gifted him various toys.

The story got viral and people from all over started to reach out to her about Glenn's bash.
